St. John Fisher College has a television studio that not too many people know about.
It is a fully functioning studio with cameras, lights, and microphones.

It is located
on the second floor of Basil, next to the writing center.The studio is a place for students to come do work, film programs, or just have fun. Fisher’s website says that Cardinal Television’s mission “is to provide students at St. John Fisher College with the opportunity to gain experience outside of the classroom in the field of Communicationsand Journalism.” This perfectly explains what students get out of working in the CTV lab.

Senior Chris Rush states, “Working in the CTV lab helped me gain experience, and it
helped me learn how to use different recording equipment through hands on activities”.
Cardinal Television also helps pump out the different programs that are on channel 12.

These are mostly produced and filmed by students; sometimes there is help from the advisor Cecil.There are many different programs that students can get involved with. One of the main programs is Fisher News .It is a student show that discusses campus events, as well as issues that impact students. Fisher News covered the Syracuse Basketball controversies,the Presidential elections, and the siphoning of gas throughout the campus.

This is not the only way for students to learn information. Fisher News also has a live feed that is connected to Fishers news, athletics, and videos.

This is a good way for Fisher to stay current, and up to date in news, and with media. Many students don’t realize that without Cardinal Television

they would not get the news as fast as they do. Club members have their own favorite show.

For junior Patrick Harney it is, The Last Resort. “The Last Resort is a program that I work on with other students;

Dave Van Gorder, and Chris Skovira. We get to basically do whatever we want. We get to create different sketches,

for instance in one I wear a blonde wig for the entire show. It is basically a great place for us to come up with some off the wall ideas, and just run with them”.
